Greenville Technical College holds first December commencement

December 7, 2015

GREENVILLE, SC – Greenville Technical College’s inaugural fall commencement will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the TD Convention Center. More than 230 students will be participating.

This is the first mid-year commencement ceremony the college has held. Traditionally, Greenville Technical College has held only a May commencement, and students completing their education throughout the year waited for that event. With the addition of a second ceremony in December, those finishing their programs can celebrate their accomplishments and receive their degrees on stage with families and friends in the audience.

Among the December graduates are two President’s Award winners. Caroline France has earned two associate degrees, both with the Honors Program designation. While maintaining a 4.0 grade point average, Caroline has participated in a research project through the Creative Inquiry program and has been a student leader with Phi Theta Kappa, the student-led honors organization. Amy S. McGee worked for 15 years as a veterinary technician before deciding that the radiology component of animal care was an interest that could lead her in a new direction. So she enrolled in the Radiologic Technology program at GTC, driving two hours each way for four years to complete her classes. After completing that program in May 2015, she continued her education in the Computed Tomography program. She is living proof that hard work pays off and now loves what her education allows her to do for a living.
