Greenville Technical College student advances to international singing competition

GREENVILLE, SC – Shane Ericks, a student at Greenville Technical College, has advanced through local and regional competition to be invited to participate in the final round of the Global Pinoy Singing Idol competition, to be held January 17-22, 2016 in Manila, Philippines and bringing together contestants from around the world. Performing “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys, she was one of two winners from the national competition held in Elgin, Illinois on October 10, 2015.
The winner of the final round of competition will receive $2,000 and a recording contract.
A Wade Hampton High School graduate who plans to earn a bachelor’s degree in commercial music, Ericks is enrolled in Greenville Technical College’s University Transfer program.
The Global Pinoy Singing Idol competition is sponsored by CFC-ANCOP (Couples for Christ Answering the Call of the Poor), an organization that raises funds for the education of financially disadvantaged youth in the Philippines.
