April 14, 2026

Greenville Theatre proudly celebrated its historic milestone on April 9th with a spectacular 1920s-themed Centennial Gala honoring 100 years of performance, creativity, and community impact. The evening brought together supporters, artists, civic leaders, and theatre lovers to commemorate a century of storytelling while looking ahead to an exciting future.

The elegant celebration featured a special performance by acclaimed Broadway star Norm Lewis, whose powerful voice and stage presence added a memorable highlight to the evening’s festivities.

During the gala, Greenville Theatre was honored with an official proclamation, Greenville Theatre Day, recognizing its 100-year legacy of enriching the cultural life of the Upstate. The proclamation was presented by Mayor Knox White on behalf of the City of Greenville.  Mayor White recognized the theatre’s longstanding contributions to the arts, education, and community engagement. A proclamation from the Greenville County Council was also presented on April 7th at County Square.

Founded in 1926, Greenville Theatre has served as a cornerstone of the local arts community for generations, providing opportunities for artists and performers of all ages while bringing high-quality productions to audiences throughout the region.

The evening also celebrated the theatre’s vision for the future. Greenville Theatre announced plans to expand and enhance its facilities to better serve the growing community and support the next generation of Greenvillians. The project will be developed in collaboration with Harper Contractors and Craig Gauldin Davis Architectural Firm, partners known for their expertise in innovative and community-focused design and construction.

“This celebration is not only about honoring our past, but also about building towards a bright future for your Greenville Theatre,” said Max Quinlan, Producing Artistic Director. “For 100 years this stage has brought our community together and we’re thrilled to continue that legacy for the next century of Greenville Theatre.”

As the Theatre enters its second century, the organization remains committed to its mission to inspire, educate, entertain and connect the community through the power of live storytelling.

Here’s to the next 100 years of Greenville Theatre!
