Greenville Theatre is thrilled to present for the first time, Shrek the Musical, live on stage!

May 22, 2023

Everyone’s favorite green ogre can now be seen at Greenville Theatre! Based on the hit blockbuster animated movie, Shrek the Musical is the perfect show for the whole family to enjoy. Come watch the exciting adventures of Shrek, his loyal side-kick Donkey, Princess Fiona, Lord Farquaad, and everyone’s favorite fairytale creatures as they go on a journey to discover who they are truly meant to be.

This spirited ensemble is Directed by Greenville Theatre’s Producing Artistic Director, Max Quinlan and features the shining talents of Andrew Anderson as Shrek, Kristofer Parker as Donkey, Jamie Ann Walters as Princess Fiona, and Jonathan Kilpatrick as Lord Farquaad.

“Shrek has been a dream role of mine ever since I was introduced to the show,” states Shrek himself, Andrew Anderson. “I believe everyone can identify with one of the many themes in this story. For me, a line that Shrek says has always personally resonated, “There is more to Ogres than people think.” In life, we often find ourselves being put into “boxes” based on people’s perceptions of us, even though deep down we know that we are capable of much more. I am excited for audiences to see Shrek break free from the “box” he has been placed in to discover how he truly feels about himself and others. I also can’t wait for kids to see these amazing costumes and these iconic characters come to life before their eyes!”

“This story is so wonderfully magical, funny, and touching,” describes Greenville Theatre’s Fiona, Jamie Ann Walters. “I first saw this show on the National Tour when I was just in middle school and have dreamed of playing Fiona ever since. She is delightfully different from the classic princess, full of spunk, resilience, silliness, and heart. I can’t wait for audiences to experience the joy of watching these iconic characters break free from their predetermined stories to discover who they are meant to be.”

In addition to our performances, audiences will get the chance to purchase their very own Shrek souvenir cup, participate in face painting before every Saturday afternoon show, and enjoy green Shrek themed “Chicken and Waffles” every Friday night provided by Anetia’s Catering Food Truck.
