Greenville Theatre receives $50,000 grant from Greenville Women Giving to renovate historic stage
May 14, 2025Greenville Theatre was awarded $50,000 by Greenville Women Giving to install a new stage in its nearly 60-year-old building, allowing the theatre to complete a decade-long revitalization effort that included improving the building’s lighting and HVAC system.
As the theatre approaches its 100th anniversary, this funding will support a total replacement of the original 1967 stage floor, including the installation of a sprung floor designed to reduce the risk of performer injuries. The renovation project also features a major upgrade to the orchestra pit, allowing the stage to convert smoothly between an open pit for live music and a fully extended performance surface.
“Thanks to Greenville Women Giving, this is more than a renovation—it’s a renewal of purpose, potential and our stage,” said Max Quinlan, producing artistic director for Greenville Theatre. “We are grateful for this opportunity as it empowers us to use the theatre to its fullest potential in our next century of performance.”
Greenville Women Giving announced the grants during its annual meeting at The Annex at Judson Mill. Each year, the organization awards grants in five focus areas – arts, education, environment, health and human services – and receives funding through member donations.
Greenville Theatre creates and produces all its shows with local talent and will celebrate its 100th season this year with a lineup of Broadway shows including Clue: On Stage, Fiddler on the Roof and Steel Magnolias.
