Greenville Women Giving opens 2017 grants application process

November 17, 2016

Greenville Women Giving, a local women’s collective philanthropic organization that serves Greenville County, began accepting grant applications online on November 1, 2016.  GWG seeks to fund worthy projects that have the potential for high impact and significant positive change in the areas of:  Arts and Culture, Education, Environment, Health, and Human Services. Funds available for grants are generated by the annual donations of GWG members and other donor-directed funds through the Community Foundation.  Grants are awarded once per year based on the cumulative voting of all current GWG members.

GWG welcomes grant requests from 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit agencies located within or offering services to the citizens of Greenville County.  GWG members believe that a strong community requires strong programs and services across a variety of sectors.  Therefore, GWG will award at least one grant in each of the five focus areas listed above. The remainder of the applications will be ranked and grants awarded accordingly with all remaining funds.  Grant sizes range from $40,000 to $100,000. In May 2016, GWG awarded more than $577,000 to 12 local, nonprofit organizations.

Application materials became available online at www.greenvillewomengiving.org November 1, 2016.  The application deadline is January 11, 2017 at 5 p.m. Voting by the GWG members will take place in April and announcement of the 2017 Grant finalists will take place at the GWG Annual Celebration on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. Grant guidelines, application instructions and frequently asked questions are all available on the GWG website along with the on-line application.  Both new and returning grant applicants are encouraged to attend one of two GWG Grant Information Sessions to learn more about this year’s grant application process and address specific questions about their application. Sessions will be held at the Greenville Chamber of Commerce on November 30, 2017 from 9:00 to 10:30 and again from 12:00 to 1:30. Registration is required; call Melanie at 864-361-1393 or register online at [email protected].
