Greenville Zoo Foundation to present inaugural ZooTunes concert

April 11, 2016

The Greenville Zoo Foundation will host its first-ever ZooTunes concert this summer at the Greenville Zoo. The inaugural event, presented in partnership with the Greenville Zoo and Eleven Events, is scheduled for Friday, June 10 at 7 p.m. and will feature Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter Jason Isbell. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the ZooTunes concert go on sale Monday, April 18 at noon and will be available at www.zootunes.eventbrite.com.

The purpose of ZooTunes is to raise funds for implementation of the Greenville Zoo Master Plan and foundation operations. Additionally, a portion of each ticket purchased will be designated for the Amur Leopard & Tiger Alliance (ALTA), a global coalition working to conserve the Amur leopard and tiger. General admission is $75 and a limited number of VIP tickets will also be available for $100.

“We are delighted to offer this concert in such a unique setting as the Greenville Zoo,” said Amanda Osborne, executive director of the Greenville Zoo Foundation. “In addition to amazing music, we’ll have beer, wine and food offerings to complete the intimate VIP experience.”

The first phase of the Greenville Zoo Master Plan, adopted by the City of Greenville in 2013, includes a new entry and ticketing complex, an expanded home for the African lions with elevated viewing platform and viewing windows and a new Asian forest featuring a tiger exhibit. Additionally, according to Osborne, a later phase of the master plan includes an event lawn with a seating capacity of 2,000. “We’re expecting as many as 700 attendees at this year’s event, and our long-term plans include growing ZooTunes into a concert series and filling the event lawn in the years to come,“ Osborne said.

A variety of community partners have already signed on to support the event, including Silver sponsors Triangle Construction, Grandbridge Real Estate Capital and Craig, Gaulden, Davis, as well as Bronze sponsors World Acceptance Corp and Greenville Mechanical. Sponsorship opportunities for ZooTunes are still available. For more information, contact Amanda Osborne at 627-4200 or [email protected].
