Greenville Zoo upgrading on-site veterinary hospital

October 1, 2019

Work is scheduled to begin this week on an expansion and renovation of the Greenville Zoo’s veterinary hospital. The project is designed to provide additional quarantine space along with specialty areas such as a surgical suite, lab, instrument prep, pharmacy and expanded treatment room. The renovation is part of the Greenville Zoo Master Plan, which was adopted in 2013, and will bring the hospital up to the standards required by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums for accreditation.

The zoo staff has converted its incubator room into a space that can serve as a treatment room during the construction period, which is expected to last approximately six months. The zoo plans to have the hospital fully functional by April 1, 2020.

Due to its location in the rear of the property, the hospital construction will not affect zoo operations or impede any activities for guests visiting the zoo.
