August 13, 2013

GREER, SC – August 13, 2013 – Greer State Bank recently made a donation to the American Cancer Society’s local Relay for Life community fundraising walk in an effort to help support the fight against cancer.  Greer State Bank participates in the annual event and over the years has contributed nearly $150,000 to the local American Cancer Society office.  The Relay for Life event involves a kick-off celebration, survivor’s lap, and a closing ceremony to remember the lives of those lost while celebrating the commitment participants are making to fight back against this disease over the next year.

“We appreciate the overwhelming support of Greer State Bank,” says Gina Miller, Community Manager, South Atlantic Division, American Cancer Society.  “The commitment by the bank speaks volumes about their passion for fighting cancer and the lives that have been affected by this disease in the local community.”

“As a community bank, we take our responsibility seriously in supporting local events like the Relay for Life walk and what it stands for,” says Candice Good, Relationship Banker and Relay for Life Captain, Greer State Bank.  “Being a participant and contributor is one of the ways we demonstrate how much we care about cancer survivors and those who are currently battling the disease.  Our community is strong and we will continue to support Relay for Life in their fight against cancer.”
