Greer State Bank Names George Burdette as President

GREER, SC – November 13, 2012 – George W. Burdette has been named President of Greer State Bank and Greer Bancshares, Incorporated, the bank holding company.  He also was named a director of the bank and the parent company, Greer Bancshares Incorporated. 

Burdette, 59, brings more than 28 years of banking experience with a career of progressive leadership roles in the industry.  His banking background includes previous positions where he served as Regional Manager, Senior Vice President, and Greenville City Executive for BB&T for the Upstate region.  George was also Vice President for Community Bank in Greenville, and served as Assistant Vice President for C&S Bank in the Columbia market.  His banking career includes organization and leadership of regional Business Banking and Private Banking teams.        

George holds a BS in Accounting earned from Carson Newman College where he graduated Magna cum Laude.  He also graduated first in his class at the South Carolina Bankers School.  Within the community, George serves as Board Chair for Campus Outreach Greenville; is a member of the SCBA Community Banking Council; is a mediator for the Upstate Mediation Center; is an elder and member of the Ministry Oversight Team at Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church; and is Vice President of the Cypress Run Homeowners Association.  Additionally, George is the author and creator of a handbook centered on the 40 essentials of leadership entitled “The One Page Leader”.
