Griffin and Davis open new law firm in Columbia

COLUMBIA, SC – Two experienced Columbia attorneys, Jim Griffin and Clarence Davis, have started a new firm to handle high-stakes litigation for clients in South Carolina and throughout the country.

Griffin & Davis, LLC, is a local firm with national experience. Its attorneys have tried more than 200 cases in 17 states, in state and federal courts and before administrative tribunals.

Both Griffin and Davis initially honed their trial skills as federal prosecutors but went on to represent both plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of cases, both criminal and civil.

The attorneys are perhaps best known for their work in complex civil litigation, catastrophic personal injury, product liability and defending individuals and businesses facing federal and state criminal and administrative or regulatory charges.

Jim Griffin is an accomplished trial lawyer with more than 25 years of experience representing clients in civil and criminal courts at the federal and state level. He has obtained multi-million-dollar verdicts and settlements for clients in civil cases. He has extensive experience representing clients charged with federal crimes, such as mail and wire fraud, healthcare fraud, mortgage and securities fraud, public corruption, government contractor and procurement fraud, and criminal tax charges. He has also represented medical doctors, nurses, dentists and other licensed professionals charged with administrative violations.

Clarence Davis has been a senior litigation partner at two corporate defense law firms that are among the largest in the United States. He focuses his practice on complex business/commercial litigation and trials (defense and plaintiff), product liability, toxic tort and environmental cases, and class-action suits, as well as white-collar criminal defense (state and federal). He has been admitted pro hac vice in state and federal courts in Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin. From 1989 to 1991, he served as assistant U.S. Attorney.

Maggie Fox practices in the areas of business law, securities litigation and class action, focusing on complex federal criminal and civil matters. She has litigated cases involving Ponzi schemes, kickback allegations, Stark Act violations, money laundering, wire fraud and other white-collar criminal claims. She has also represented clients in matters related to healthcare fraud, business contract conflicts and employment issues. She has served as local counsel in a variety of case types including qui tam matters.
