Grinding of the Greens Christmas tree Recycling

COLUMBIA, SC – December 27, 2012 – Keep the Midlands Beautiful announces this year’s Grinding of the Greens Christmas tree recycling program. 

When: Dec. 26, 2012 through Jan.10, 2012. Hours and locations vary. 

Where: 20 drop-off locations in Lexington and Richland Counties:

• Blythewood Drop-Off Recycling Facility – 311 Blythewood Road, Blythewood 29106
• Caughman Road Park  – 2800 Trotter Road, Columbia 29061. M-F 2-9 PM, Sat 9-8 PM, Sun 1-6 PM.
• City of Columbia Compost Facility -121 Humane Lane, Columbia 29209 (off Shop Road across from the SPCA). Open M-F, 8:30 AM – 4PM.
• Clemson Institute for Economic & Community Development – 900 Clemson Road, Columbia 29229
• Crooked Creek Park – 1098 Old Lexington Highway, Chapin 29036 (next to Chapin Middle School). Open daily 7:30 AM – 11 PM.
• Friarsgate Park – 1712 Chadford Rd., Irmo 29063. M-F 2-9 PM, Sat 9-8 PM, Sun 1-6 PM.
• Forest Lake Park – 6820 Wedgefield Rd., Columbia 29206. M-F 2-9 PM, Sat 9-8 PM, Sun 1-6 PM.
• Fort Jackson Recycling Center – Building #5671 on Lee Road, Fort Jackson,. (Enter the Fort through Gate 2 on Forest Drive.  After Burger King, turn left onto Lee Road.) Open Mon – Fri 7 AM – 3 PM and Sat 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM.

Please remember to remove the tree from its stand.Remove all ornamentation, lights, garlands, wires, strings or ties.
Drop off trees only – no wreaths or other greenery will be accepted.
 
Free mulch from the recycled Christmas trees will be available to the public on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013 at Seven Oaks Park – 200 Leisure Lane, Columbia 29210. (near the intersection of St. Andrews and Piney Grove Roads).

South Carolina State Farmers Market – 3483 Charleston Highway, West Columbia 29172.  from 9 a.m. until the mulch runs out.
