Growl at the Moon this Halloween at the State Museum

Sixth Annual Signature Event Returns with Howling New Halloween Fun

The State Museum will welcome guests to “Growl at the Moon” Friday, Oct. 25, from 7 – 10 p.m. The event will feature the debut of a new planetarium laser light show, new Haunted Virtual Reality experiences, live music from the Reggie Sullivan Band, Ghost Tours, a dance performance and fortune-telling. Plus, food from Doc’s BBQ, craft beer, wine and a signature cocktail. Guests can also head up to the Boeing Observatory for night sky viewing and take home their very own custom beer growlers.

New this year – Fright Lights – a planetarium laser show set to spooky themed music. Dance in your seat to tunes from Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, Concrete Blonde and more while watching choreographed lasers light up the planetarium dome.

Also new – Haunted Virtual Reality experiences. Guests can immerse themselves in a variety of scary VR scenarios. This isn’t just fun for guests participating in the experience, those watching are sure to get a laugh as their friends react.

Ghost Tours will take guests through the museum’s exhibit galleries where they can explore local legends, folk tales and chilling stories – including a few featuring eerie encounters at the museum. Plus, Ken Broom will be giving dance demonstrations and there will be a live performance set to Michael Jackson’s, Thriller.

Guests can add to their fun with live music from the Reggie Sullivan Band, get a glimpse into the future with fortune-telling from Black Dove, interact with witches and werewolves throughout the museum and get an up-close look at the night sky in the Boeing Observatory, weather permitting.

Costumes are highly encouraged. Tickets include all event activities, food from Doc’s BBQ, South Carolina craft beer, wine and a Witch’s Brew signature cocktail. Plus, a souvenir beer growler to take home.  Growl at the Moon tickets are $35 for general public and $28 for members in advance and $40 at the door. This event is 21 years of age or up.
