March 27 Groundbreaking Ceremony for Link Apartments West End

GREENVILLE, SC –  Grubb Properties will hold the groundbreaking ceremony for its Link Apartments West End on March 27 at 5 p.m. at the corner of River and Rhett Streets. The ceremony will include a traditional groundbreaking event, as well as feature a fledgling partnership with the Swamp Rabbit Trail, a multi-use greenway managed by Greenville County Recreation Department and sponsored by the Greenville Health System.

“Link Apartments are known for their premier urban living locations, extensive amenities, and walkable access to entertainment, work, and recreation opportunities,” says Rachel Russell, vice president for real estate development at Grubb Properties. “One of the reasons we chose the Greenville West End as a location for a Link apartment community is because of the extensive neighborhood amenities and infrastructure that the location offers our future residents. The Swamp Rabbit Trail is a part of that infrastructure and a big draw for people who love the outdoors, hiking, and cycling. We are looking forward to future opportunities to partner with the SRT to help maintain this beautiful feature of downtown Greenville and Greenville County.”

Link Apartments West End will be a 215-unit apartment community located one block off of Main Street in the Historic West End, near Falls Park at the Reedy, the Swamp Rabbit Trail, and scores of dining, entertainment, and recreation options; Link is known for immersion in local communities, and targets the Millennial generation and others who want to live near downtown work and entertainment options. The apartments will include extensive community amenities, including two courtyards with a saltwater pool, fire pits, and grilling stations; a dog park and pet wash station; a state of the art fitness center with mezzanine level dedicated to aerobics and yoga; a club room with media center, kitchen, and cyber cafe area with wifi, computers, and printers; secured, free parking with one space per bedroom; and a covered rooftop terrace with gourmet kitchen. The complex will also include a street-level, secured Cycle Center with premium storage lockers, maintenance and training facilities for all of Greenville’s cyclists coming on and off the nearby Swamp Rabbit Trail.

“We are thrilled that Link West End has thought of us for one of its community partnerships,” says Ty Houck, Director of Greenways, Natural and Historic Resources for Greenville County Recreation. “With more than half a million people a year using the Greenville Health System Swamp Rabbit Trail for fun and community transportation, it’s exciting to have a partner like Link West End helping make Greenville great.”

“It’s an honor that Grubb Properties has chosen downtown Greenville as the location for one of its four nationally branded Link urban living communities,” says Greenville mayor Knox White. “Each of us — whether we work with the City of Greenville, or Greenville County — continues to work to make Greenville one of the most beautiful and livable cities in America.”

Yeargin Potter Shackelford is the general contractor for the project; renderings of the Link community will be available at the groundbreaking ceremony.
