GTCHS joins local non profits to tackle food insecurity and shortages in blood supply

January 25, 2021

Greenville Technical Charter High School (GTCHS) will join Harvest Hope, Miracle Hill Food Warehouse, United Ministries and Sunbelt Human Advancement Resources (S.H.A.R.E.) for a Food Drive in addition to a Blood Drive with the Blood Connection on Friday, January 29, 2021, from 8:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Although the appointments for the blood donations have been filled, the community is invited to come and donate nonperishable food items and toiletries to help decrease Greenville County’s food insecurity that has increased due to the pandemic.

Service is in the DNA of GTCHS and our students are dedicated to being an integral part of continuing our service to our community, especially during the COVID crisis. Annually, the school holds SERVE day and despite the pandemic, wanted to move forward with providing students a way to impact the entire Greenville community.  Students have been collecting items all month that will be collected by the organizations on Friday, Jan. 29.  Additionally, they are inviting community members to bring their donations of nonperishable food and personal care items to GTCHS located on the Barton Campus of Greenville Technical College, 506 S. Pleasantburg Dr., Greenville, SC 29607 in Parking Lot D from 8:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M.  GTCHS is the first charter school in the state and serves as a blueprint for the middle college system throughout the state.
