H.G. Reynolds gift to Lexington One Educational Foundation supports building construction program and students

November 10, 2021

On Wednesday morning, November 10, 2021, the leaders of H.G. Reynolds Company presented a generous gift of $7,500 to the Lexington One Educational Foundation. This corporate donation will provide support to the Building Construction Programs at three schools in Lexington County School District One.

Lexington One Educational Foundation Executive Director Julie Anderson Washburn shared, “We are extremely grateful to generous corporate partners like H.G. Reynolds for their gifts to the Educational Foundation. This donation is a direct investment in our Lexington District One students who are enrolled in the Building Construction Programs this year; it provides much needed support to all three of our schools offering these hands-on, skilled-job experiences.”

Gilbert High School Principal Jacob W. Nelson, H.G. Reynolds Owner Graham Reynolds, Pelion High School Principal Bryan Hearn, H.G. Reynolds Owner Ryan Reynolds, Lexington Technology Center Administrator Bryce Myers, Lexington District One Superintendent Dr. Gregory D. Little, Lexington One Educational Foundation Board Chair Chris Rice, and Lexington One Educational Foundation Executive Director Julie Anderson Washburn.

The Building Construction Program in Lexington District One currently provides real-world experiences for students through courses at the Lexington Technology Center (LTC), Gilbert High School and Pelion High School. It’s part of the district’s School of Engineering, Manufacturing & Industrial Technologies Architecture & Construction Cluster. Students are able to complete the Building Construction Career Technical Education Sequence by enrolling in Building Construction 1 & 2. In addition, LTC offers courses in Cabinetmaking, Construction Project Management, and Electricity 1 & 2.

Students from these three Lexington District One schools also compete in the state and national competitions each year with SkillsUSA, which is an organization that promotes leadership and partnership between students and industry. Each school program builds a house and the students are involved in every step of the home building process. This gives the enrolled students practical, real-world, hands-on experiences that industry partners value.

The H.G. Reynolds donation to the Educational Foundation will support each school’s SkillsUSA building project and assist with the financial expenses associated with the build, such a student fees and/or purchasing supplies and equipment needed for the students to successfully build their school’s home.

Chair of the Lexington One Educational Foundation Chris Rice and Lexington District One Superintendent Dr. Gregory D. Little, also thanked and praised H.G. Reynolds for the company’s investment in this technical skills program and the students it will impact. Chris Rice added, “Our Educational Foundation board members greatly appreciate companies like H.G. Reynolds who provide financial support for our students’ educational experiences. The district’s Building Construction Program is invaluable in giving students the skills needed to directly enter the work force with hands-on training that can be a huge asset to securing a future job and career.”

One of the company’s owners, Ryan Reynolds, shared, “At H.G. Reynolds Company, our mission is ‘Building Better Communities.’ We have been humbled by Lexington District One’s confidence in our company to build a better community here. With that confidence, our gift to the Lexington One Educational Foundation is the Reynolds family’s way of not only returning thanks, but also for us to align with this district’s vision of empowering each child to design the future. We are grateful to be a part of the Lexington One community.”

Lexington District One students are fortunate to have H.G. Reynolds Company supporting their education and cultivating future industry leaders in the Lexington community.
