Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County welcomes five new Board Members

Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County announces five new members joining its Board of Directors for fiscal year 2027: Ken Cummings, Ken Gibson, Glenda Morrison-Fair, John Natale and Sima Patel. The new board members bring backgrounds spanning banking, law, local government and education to the non-profit, which partners with families across Greenville and Laurens Counties to build pathways to affordable homeownership.
Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County’s Board of Directors helps set the strategic direction for the organization and oversees its growth as it works to address the Upstate’s affordable homeownership. The incoming members join a board of community and business leaders who help guide the organization’s home construction, home repair, weatherization and homebuyer education programs.
“Each of these leaders brings a depth of expertise and a genuine commitment to our mission,” said LaTonya Phillips, president and CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County. “Their guidance will help us reach even more families across our community with the opportunity and stability that comes from a safe, affordable place to call home.”
Ken Cummings is senior vice president at Southern First, with more than 25 years of experience in retail and commercial banking. An Upstate native, he is a Winthrop University graduate who holds an MBA from Strayer University. Cummings served on the City of Simpsonville’s Council from 2015 to 2023 and currently serves on the Greenville Chamber of Commerce Board of Advisors and Finance Committee, the United Way of Greenville African American Leadership Giving Board and Campaign Cabinet, and the Bon Secours Mercy Health Board of Directors, where he is treasurer.
John Natale is senior vice president of commercial banking at First Horizon Bank, bringing 30 years of experience in finance, commercial banking and program management. Natale holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Belmont Abbey College.
Ken Gibson represents Greenville City Council’s District 3. A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Gibson served in the U.S. Army before earning his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center. He now operates his own law practice in Greenville and has previously served on the City of Greenville Public Safety Citizen Review Board and the Greenville County Board of Zoning Appeals.
Glenda Morrison-Fair is a trustee on Greenville County Schools board, representing Area 23 since 2008, and a former chair of the Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County Board of Directors. She spent 10 years serving on the South Carolina School Boards Association Board of Directors. She began her career as a research mathematician before moving into information technology and, ultimately, the classroom as a computer science and geometry teacher. Morrison-Fair holds a degree in mathematics from Hampton University.
Sima Patel is senior corporate counsel at Michelin North America. Before joining Michelin in 2018, she practiced law with Nexsen Pruet in Greenville and with Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP in Washington, D.C. Patel holds a J.D. from American University Washington College of Law and previously served as board president of United Ministries.
Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County’s mission will benefit from the insight and energy these new board members will bring to help expand the opportunity of affordable homeownership in the year ahead.
