Hale Appointed as Interim Vice Chancellor for Advancement at USC Upstate

Donald Hale has been appointed as the interim vice chancellor for advancement at the University of South Carolina Upstate. Hale will serve in this role on a part-time basis, balancing his time between USC Upstate and USC Columbia, where he serves as the assistant vice president for development. In his role at USC Columbia, Hale leads the development teams that support the South Carolina Honors College; the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sports Management; the College of Education; the School of Music; the Division of Student Affairs; and Palmetto College.

Prior to joining the USC Columbia team, Hale served as the director of gift planning for the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL; the director of development and alumni relations for the Roy E. Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL; the director of development for the Florida Bar Foundation; the senior director of development and alumni affairs at the Fredric G. Levin College of Law at the University of Florida; and the associate director of development and alumni affairs for the College of Pharmacy at the University of Florida Health Science Center.

Hale earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Meinrad College in St. Meinrad, Indiana, and a Master of Arts degree at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.  He has served on the faculty for Council For Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District III and the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning (PPP).  Hale and his wife of nearly 20 years, Stacy, have a daughter Ana (16) and a son Aidan (15).
