November 18, 2016

The South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA) has named Headmaster Chris Angel 2016 recipient of the Dr. Charles Aimar Award for Educational Leadership.  This is the highest honor bestowed by SCISA, and recognizes and celebrates an individual whose selfless dedication and commitment to independent education have made a positive impact on the life of a school and young people.

Chris joined the Hammond community in 2002 as Head of Upper School, and for the past eight years has served as Headmaster.  In making its selection, SCISA took into consideration the progress Hammond has made under Chris’ leadership, and the expectation of excellence found in all facets of the school program.  While many criteria were used in making this award, Angel has long been recognized in the Hammond community as a forward thinking educator, a patron of the arts, a devoted sideline coach, a teacher, a mentor, a community servant, and most importantly, an advocate for children of all ages.
