Hand honored by Greenville Literacy Association

GREENVILLE, SC- Steve Hand, director of the Quick Jobs with a Future program at Greenville Technical College, received the 2016 Community Service Award from Greenville Literacy Association (GLA) in September.

The Community Service Award recognizes those who have gone above and beyond to serve the community through working with GLA.  Hand’s passion to make everyone he meets feel at home and welcome. He is also eager to tell the community about all the programs at the college and to offer encouragement to those interested in pursuing their dreams. He has been with Greenville Technical College for 24 years as a leader and cheerleader.  Hand has helped GLA successfully pilot the dual enrollments of 5 GLA students in the Quick Jobs programs as part of the organization’s Career Pathways initiative.

The Quick Jobs with a Future program allows working adults, or those in occupational transition, to quickly obtain skills matching the needs of local business and industry. Programs offer training and certifications that are skills-specific and job-preparatory with most courses lasting three months or less.
