Hartness breaks ground on Hotel Hartness

December 3, 2020

Hartness, a new 444-acre urban village founded by the Hartness family and located on Greenville’s Eastside on the family’s estate, celebrated the groundbreaking of Hotel Hartness. The hotel will open in 2022 and be located within the Hartness village for residents, visitors to the Upstate, and the community to enjoy.

“Since launching two years ago, we have seen much success. Many families now call Hartness home and soon we will debut our Village Kitchen restaurant,” said Sean Hartness, Hartness Development CEO. “Our next chapter is an exciting one and kicks off today as we break ground on the hotel. Greenville’s Eastside is flourishing, and we are excited to introduce something new and unique to the area when Hotel Hartness opens.”

Hartness celebrated the official groundbreaking of Hotel Hartness in front of the family home, which will continue to be the heart of Hotel Hartness and reimagined as The Great Room, an inviting space where guests and visitors can gather and relax; The Captain, a bar named after Tom Hartness; a breakfast area; and a Board Room. Designed by C+TC Design Studio and SWA Group and opening in 2022, Hotel Hartness will also boast 69 luxury rooms, with four additional guest suites located in what will be a world-class luxury spa, also thoughtfully designed by C+TC Design Studio. Additional exclusive amenities include Patterson, a fine-dining restaurant named for a branch of the Hartness family that overlooks one of the property’s ponds and boasts a wall of windows that can open up to provide an outdoor dining experience on a wrap-around rear porch; 20,000 square feet of indoor event space; and numerous outdoor event spaces as well. Hotel Hartness will provide superior service and its design and offerings will incorporate much of the family’s home and rich history, as well as draw on the spirit and culture of its location in Greenville and on the family estate. Hay Creek Hotels, a New Hampshire-based company that has 19 additional properties, will manage the independent non-flagged hotel with Greenville native Jonathan Brashier serving as general manager.

Hotel Hartness will be situated within the Hartness village, which is located on Greenville’s Eastside on the Hartness family estate. For three generations their homestead welcomed friends and family and the Hartness’ have long envisioned transforming it into a community built to last for future generations. The result is a vibrant village thoughtfully created in the traditional neighborhood design. More than a collection of beautiful homes, Hartness is a quaint pedestrian-friendly community embracing authentic architecture, natural and built amenities, land preservation, and a mixed-use village center. Hartness adheres to the planning principles of New Urbanism and every aspect of community design is focused on creating and connecting the private and public realms with scenic, inviting streetscapes and pedestrian corridors.
