May 13, 2020

City of Hartsville City Council voted at the May 12, 2020 regular City Council meeting to approve the hire of Daniel Moore as Hartsville’s newest city manager. Moore will assume the position of city manager from Natalie Zeigler who announced in March that she would be leaving Hartsville to accept the role of city administrator of the City of Goose Creek, SC beginning in June 2020.

“Our city is filled with amazing people that have a true passion for Hartsville,” says City of Hartsville Mayor, Mel Pennington.  “It was important to City Council to find a manager that was passionate and dedicated to continuing to help improve Hartsville for all that love this city. We believe that Daniel Moore is the type of leader that will bring the enthusiasm and dedication to Hartsville that our residents and visitors have come to expect.”

Moore commented on this hire by saying, “I am humbled and honored to serve as the next city manager for Hartsville. My family and I have quickly fallen in love with Hartsville and are excited to join this amazing community.”

Daniel Moore will come to Hartsville from the City of Goose Creek, SC where he has served as the interim city administrator since April 2020. Prior to that role, Moore served as the assistant city administrator where he was responsible for overseeing the departments and offices of Human Resources, Planning and Zoning, Information Technology, Municipal Court, and City Clerk. In addition, Moore served as the public services administrative coordinator for the City of North Augusta, SC, where he worked across the full spectrum of local government. Moore holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Augusta University. Daniel and his wife Sarah will relocate to Hartsville with their two children, Oliver (6) and Ava (3).

Moore will officially begin as city manager on June 8, 2020. Current City Manager Natalie Zeigler will assist with Moore’s transition into his new role prior to his official start date.
