Hawks Secure AAA Championship for the 2nd Year in a Row

HANAHAN, SC – The Hanahan High School Track and Field team recently won their second AAA state championship title in Columbia on Saturday. They scored 97 points on the way to their second championship in a row.

The 4 x 800 relay team of Damon Bennett, Dyrell Kinloch, Tyler Talacko and Brendan Ferriero finished second and broke the school record.  The 4 x 100 relay team of Saaehim Brooks, Sam Denmark , Greg Casselman and Quincey Mitchell won the gold medal and broke the school record. Their time was the fastest in all classifications.  The 4 x 400 relay team of Greg, Dyrell, Quincey and Sam finished second and also broke the school record.  Sam was also state champion in the 100 and 200 meter sprints. Quincey finished third in the 100 and 200 meter sprints. Greg was sixth in the 110 hurdles and second in the 400 hurdles.

In field events, Dominique Green won the gold medal in the shot put on his last throw, while Tre Smalls won the silver in the shot put.  Jacob Garibay was fourth in the discus and threw his personal best and Chase Pfaff finished fourth in the pole vault.
