Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd’s Will Johnson receives national honors from American Bar Association

Will Johnson, a Shareholder in Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd’s Columbia office, has received the 2016 American Bar Association “On the Rise – Top 40 Young Lawyers Award” and has been named one of six ABA Young Lawyers Division 2016 “Stars of the Year.”
The Top 40 Young Lawyers Award, in its inaugural year, recognizes ABA young lawyer members who exemplify a broad range of high achievement, innovation, vision, leadership, and legal and community service. The ABA received more than 1,200 nominations, and Mr. Johnson is the only honoree from South Carolina.
The “Star of the Year” Award was presented by outgoing ABA Young Lawyers Division Chair Lacy Durham during the organization’s annual meeting in San Francisco in recognition of exemplary performance of duties to the public and the American Bar Association. Mr. Johnson was recognized for his work as the director of committees during the 2015-16 year. In that position, Mr. Johnson oversaw 36 committees across the country, and overall committee membership increased 45% during his tenure. He previously served as co-chair of the ABA Young Lawyers Division’s Tax Law Committee during the 2014-15 year.
Mr. Johnson is the chair of the firm’s manufacturing industry team and a member of the economic development practice group. He concentrates his practice on economic development, corporate law, and tax matters. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America for Tax Law (2016).
