Health Empowerment Tour Coming to North Charleston

IMARA Woman Magazine Brings Health Empowerment Tour Presented by Select Health of South Carolina and AmeriHealth Caritas Partnership to North Charleston

Event features inspiring speakers and healthy lifestyle seminars

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC IMARA Woman magazine’s 14th annual Health Empowerment Tour, presented by Select Health of South Carolina and AmeriHealth Caritas Partnership, begins Saturday, Sept. 12, at Morningside Middle School, located at 1999 Singley Lane, North Charleston. The 8:00 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. event, themed “Mind, Body, Spirit: Laughter is Good Medicine,” offers health screenings, educational workshops and fun activities all at no cost to participants. Select Health is part of the AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies.

“The Health Empowerment Tour is a day of fun and fellowship that addresses the social determinants of health disparities through entertaining and lively discussion,” said Wendy Brawley, founder and publisher of IMARA Woman. “Everyone has a great time, we learn from experts and we get to ask questions and share our own experiences.”

Advance registration is required for this event, which also includes a fashion show, cooking demonstrations, door prizes and entertainment. In addition, a healthy lunch will be highlighted by comedian Mike Goodwin who will present a performance titled “Laughter is Good Medicine,” focusing on the importance of maintaining good health. Ten workshops will be offered and participants may attend up to two. Featured titles include “Ask the Doctor” presented by Select Health of South Carolina and AmeriHealth Caritas Partnership  and “Healthy Eating Can Taste Great,” a heart-healthy cooking demonstration and tasting session presented by IMARA Woman.

The Tour will also include events on Sept. 26 at the Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College in Orangeburg and Oct. 17at the St. John Holistic Wellness Center in Hopkins.
