Healthy Learners announces Aixa Rodriguez-Mariani, MD as Georgetown Program Manager

November 28, 2017

Healthy Learners announced Aixa Rodriguez-Mariani as program manager for Healthy Learners Georgetown.  Rodriguez-Mariani is responsible for providing oversight and management of the Healthy Learners Georgetown program while insuring that the elements of the process are in place and effectively employed.  In this role, she will be an excellent resource to the school nurses and health care providers in assisting children who are in need and without resources.

Healthy Learners is a faith-based non-profit that connects children to care so that poor health is not an obstacle to doing well in school.  Healthy Learners addresses poverty at its root, so that future generations can lift themselves, and their communities, to a better life.

“As a parent of a now young adult with Autism, I have been advocating for children’s needs for the last 19 years. I am excited to join Healthy Learners because it provides me the opportunity to combine my medical knowledge with my commitment to children’s advocacy,” said Rodriguez-Mariani.  “I have seen first-hand how access to health care services can positively influence a child’s academic success. As Program Manager of Healthy Learners Georgetown, I hope to continue to help children of Georgetown County without resources access the health care services they need so they can reach their potential at school.”

Rodriguez-Mariani joins the Healthy Learners team with excellent leadership, managerial, and multi-tasking skills, which have prepared her to help carry out the Healthy Learners’ mission of removing children’s barriers to learning.  “I am confident that Aixa is an excellent match for this position and a strong asset,” said Healthy Learners Executive Director Jo Pauling-Jones.

Rodriguez-Mariani holds a MD degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine with a specialty in OB/GYN and a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Notre Dame.
