SC Bar Young Lawyers and local sorority collect formal gowns for Cinderella Project

COLUMBIA, SC – The SC Bar Young Lawyers Division (YLD), in conjunction with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Upsilon Omega Omega Chapter, is sponsoring its annual Cinderella Project, which provides gently worn formal, bridesmaid and prom dresses for young women who lack the financial resources to buy a gown for their high school prom.

“This project is so important because not only are we helping our girls get the tangible benefit of a free prom dress, which eases a large financial burden for their families, but we are also helping our girls build memories that will last a lifetime,” said Sheila Bias, YLD’s Cinderella Project Committee Chair.

Clean dresses in all sizes, as well as evening bags, jewelry, shoes and other accessories, are needed. Donations can be dropped off at any of the following locations. Drop off locations will be added to www.cinderellaprojectsc.com as they become available.

“Prom is a magical time representing a right-of-passage that is often the hallmark of one’s high school experience,” said Bias. “It is amazing and a true pleasure that we have the opportunity to help our girls feel beautiful and special.”
