Help keep neighbors warm: Elizabeth Street Church of God seeks coat donations for Nov. 14 distribution

November 2, 2026

Elizabeth Street Church of God in Clinton will distribute coats to community members in need on Saturday, Nov. 14, through its Hands and Feet of Jesus Homeless and Coat Ministry.

The ministry is collecting new and gently used coats in all sizes ahead of the event, along with gloves, toboggans and scarves. Organizers hope to gather enough winter wear to help individuals and families stay warm as temperatures drop across Laurens County.

The ministry draws its mission from Matthew 25:35-40, a passage in which Jesus describes feeding the hungry, giving drink to the thirsty, welcoming the stranger, clothing those without, caring for the sick and visiting those in prison. This year’s theme, “Rise in Faith with the Hands and Feet of Jesus,” reflects the church’s focus on putting that teaching into practice by meeting physical needs in the community.

In addition to the coat drive, the church’s homeless ministry is accepting personal care and practical items for people experiencing homelessness. Requested items include toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, hand sanitizer, flashlights and bar soap. The ministry also welcomes other everyday essentials.

Monetary donations are accepted as well and will support the ministry’s ongoing work with homeless neighbors throughout the year.

Community members, businesses, civic groups and other congregations are encouraged to take part by donating items or funds before the Nov. 14 distribution. Organizers say every coat, pair of gloves and hygiene item makes a difference for someone facing the colder months without adequate resources.

Elizabeth Street Church of God is located at 313 Elizabeth St. in Clinton. Those wishing to donate may contact the church for drop-off details and distribution times.
