Helping Hands Dental Clinic extends operations, adding services on Fridays

February 17, 2020

Helping Hands of Georgetown (Helping Hands) has been providing free dental care for Georgetown County residents since the inception of its dental clinic in 2013. Today, Helping Hands announces the addition of operational hours every Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The added hours have been made possible through a partnership with St. James-Santee Family Health Center.

“When we speak of compassionate care here at Helping Hands, we don’t just mean through the way in which we interact with those in need, but also in the services we provide that otherwise would not be made available to those individuals,” said Brendon Barber, Executive Director of Helping Hands of Georgetown. “Our partnership with St. James-Santee Family Health Center has provided us with the resources we need to expand our hours of operation, providing the privilege of serving more people in need.”

Local volunteer dentists continue to offer their services for emergency extraction on Thursday evenings and on most Thursdays. Dr. Strickland, a retired dentist, volunteers to provide examinations and restorative procedures. Those seeking tooth extractions and dental care must have an appointment scheduled prior to visiting the clinic — to schedule one, please call 843-461-9111 on Thursdays at 10:00 a.m.

The Helping Hands Dental Clinic provides examinations, cleaning and extraction for eligible residents. In addition to expanded hours, the Dental Clinic has also added additional extraction times —on Thursday afternoons — for patients suffering from dental decay.
