Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall Comes to Greenville Next Month

SIMPSONVILLE, SC – May 22, 2012 – Heritage Funeral Home is teaming up with the Nashville Connection – Heroes Salute to bring the American Veterans Traveling Tribute, a portable scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, to Greenville’s TD Convention Center for public display June 27-30, 2012. The four-day tribute provides a moving opportunity to honor, respect and remember the men and women of the US Armed Forces who served in the Vietnam War.

Andy Byrd, co-owner of Heritage Funeral Home in Simpsonville said, “With Memorial Day just around the corner, we need to remember all veterans who have bravely served our country, especially those who paid the ultimate price to help safeguard our country and our values. Heritage is proud to support the Nashville Connection-Heroes Salute as we thank and honor our Vietnam Veterans with this traveling tribute coming to our community next month.”

On Wednesday, June 27 there will be an official motorcycle motorcade escort of the Traveling Vietnam Wall from Mauldin to the TD Convention Center beginning at 1 pm. At 2:30 pm, there will be an Official Wall Dedication Ceremony for the public and the press. The Wall will be on display beginning at noon on Thursday, June 28 through Saturday evening, June 30.

For the second consecutive year, the Nashville Connection-Heroes Salute is coming to Greenville, SC, for a multimedia extravaganza that brings together music industry professionals, local and celebrity performers and the public to experience music workshops, concerts and a gala benefit along with the Traveling Vietnam Wall. Proceeds from the four-day event benefit a number of local charities supporting veterans, including the Welcome Home veterans’ shelter in Spartanburg, the Vietnam Veterans of America, and Honor Flights of the Upstate.
