HGTC and WMBF News partner to provide free Back-to-School haircuts for K-12 students
July 14, 2026Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC), in partnership with WMBF News, will host a free community haircut event for K-12 students on Thursday, July 16, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the HGTC Institute of Cosmetology, Building 600, on the Conway Campus, located at 2050 Highway 501, Conway, SC 29526.
The event is designed to help local students prepare for the upcoming school year by providing free haircuts for K-12 students performed by HGTC cosmetology students under the supervision of licensed instructors. Haircuts will be available on a first-come, first-served basis while capacity allows. No registration is required.
“This event reflects HGTC’s and WMBF News’ shared commitment to serving our community while providing our students with meaningful, hands-on learning experiences,” said Dr. Marilyn “Murph” Fore, President of Horry-Georgetown Technical College. “We are proud to partner with WMBF News to help local families prepare for the new school year while giving our cosmetology students the opportunity to strengthen their skills through service. We look forward to welcoming students and their families for a morning of support and community.”
