High Spirits Hospitality’s Tammy Johnson wins GSA Woman of Influence

June 18, 2020

Tammy Johnson, CEO and owner of High Spirits Hospitality, was named a GSA Woman of Influence on Wednesday.

Johnson was born in Houston, but moved to Greenville in 2009, where she worked as the marketing manager for a restaurant group. In January of 2011, she opened Liquid Catering, a special event bartending company. She opened the Old Cigar Warehouse in February of 2013 and added private security company Bravo1 Protection in 2015. In 2017, Johnson started High Spirits Hospitality in order to oversee those companies, as well as High Spirits Events, an events company that puts on the annual Tacos & Tequila Fiesta.

In 2014, Johnson was awarded Entrepreneur of the Year by Black Box Magazine as well as Young Entrepreneur of the Year by the South Carolina Small Business Association. Greenville Business Magazine named her as one of Greenville’s Influential Leaders in 2018.

The GSA Women of Influence award seeks to recognize and honor influential women in various careers— such as banking, marketing, and nonprofit—in the Upstate area.

“I am very honored to have been named a Woman of Influence,” Johnson said, “Being a woman who is leading a business is difficult, and I am grateful to GSA Business Magazine for recognizing those unique challenges.”
