COLUMBIA, SC – Tim Hinson has been named Risk Control Manager for the South Carolina School Boards Insurance Trust (SCSBIT). Hinson has worked in the trust’s risk control division since 2006, and he brings valuable experience and relationships to the job, said SCSBIT Director of Insurance Services Frank Vail. “Tim has expertise in strategies for reducing liability risk, and he has developed strong working relationships with SCSBIT member districts. This combination makes him the ideal person to lead SCSBIT’s risk control services division,” Vail said.

SCSBIT is one of the services provided by the South Carolina School Boards Association (SCSBA). It provides workers’ compensation and property and casualty insurance, along with risk reduction services, through a not-for-profit structure. SCSBIT is the largest insurer of school districts in South Carolina.

Hinson said he is excited about his new role. “In the time I’ve been with SCSBIT, I have enjoyed working with districts throughout South Carolina,” he said. “I look forward to building on those relationships and continuing to serve the needs of our state’s schools.”

Hinson is a graduate of the University of South Carolina. Before coming to SCSBIT, he worked for the South Carolina State Accident Fund.
