COLUMBIA, SC – Attorney Morgan Crapps has joined Nexsen Pruet’s Economic Development Team in Columbia. She comes to the firm from the South Carolina Department of Commerce, where she was most recently Senior Manager in Commerce’s International Strategy and Trade division and was previously a Project Manager in Global Business Development.

As a key member of the Economic Development Team, Crapps will play a vital role in crafting and carrying out the Firm’s business development strategy, both internationally and domestically. She will also assist in advising businesses who are looking to establish a business presence in the Carolinas or expand existing operations.

“We know that business leaders from any region of the world place the highest value on working with people they know and trust, and who have an understanding of their industries and culture,” said Tushar Chikhliker, chair of the firm’s Economic Development Group. “For the past several years, Morgan has been cementing these types of relationships with international companies, consultants, government officials, and trade organizations. We look forward to her joining our Economic Development Group as we reaffirm our efforts to assist businesses in the Carolinas.”

While at Commerce, Crapps met with firms from around the world across a wide spectrum of industry sectors. Her primary focus was to identify companies interested in US expansion and facilitate opportunities for the company in the state. Crapps also assisted with the management of South Carolina’s four international offices in China, Japan, India, and Germany. In her previous role at Commerce she assisted companies with everything from site selection to incentives to permitting, streamlining their expansion or relocation in South Carolina. She earned her undergraduate degree from Clemson University and her law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law.
