July 8, 2014

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – Holder Properties is pleased to announce the completion of the newly built classroom and office building for the College of Charleston North Campus and Lowcountry Graduate Center in North Charleston, South Carolina.  Holder Properties owns and will manage the development.

“The College of Charleston has enjoyed working with Holder Properties in developing a new, state-of-the-art building in the City of North Charleston. While on a very compressed construction schedule, quality never slipped, and the facility was delivered on time as promised. This new building will allow for academic program growth for the College and the Lowcountry Graduate Center in order to meet the educational needs of the tri-county region,” stated Steve Osborne, Executive Vice President for Business Affairs.

With the help of the City of North Charleston, Holder Properties was able to meet an aggressive seven month start to finish construction schedule.  “The success of this project is a result of the close and cooperative relationship between the College of Charleston, Lowcountry Graduate Center, and the City of North Charleston,” stated John Holder, CEO of Holder Properties.  The development received State Budget and Control Board approval on October 31, 2013, broke ground in early December, and received the certificate of occupancy on July 1st.  The College and Lowcountry Graduate Center plan to be fully relocated in time for the start of their fall 2014 semester.

The development is located at the corner of Paramount Drive and the I-526 access road, adjacent to the Executive Office Park at Faber Place.  The new location is visible from I-526.  The 50,000 square foot two-story state-of-the-art development contains lobby space, administrative offices and classroom areas incorporating the latest technology and teaching/learning environments.  The interior space will support the needs of the College with energy efficient systems and environmentally sensitive materials.  The building exterior features architectural precast and aluminum windows with a combination of spandrel and vision glass.
