Holiday events announced in the City of Cayce

November 21, 2016

The City of Cayce announces upcoming Holiday Events throughout the month of December for everyone to enjoy. Following is a brief overview of each Holiday Event.

Thursday, December 1

6 p.m. – 39th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony

This event is sponsored by The Woman’s Club of Cayce and includes greetings from city officials, holiday thoughts, musical selections, and a visit from Santa. Proceeds from the sale of lights for the tree are given to God’s Helping Hands. The Woman’s Club is also sponsoring the Cayce Cares food drive and asks that participants donate non-perishable food items that will be given to God’s Helping Hands.

Friday, December 2

6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. – Carols Along the Riverwalk (N Avenue Entrance, Cayce Riverwalk Pavilion)

The sounds of Christmas can be heard throughout the Cayce Riverwalk Park with several area church choirs and local musicians located within the first half mile of the park. Visitors can wander from group to group, enjoying holiday musical selections. The Riverwalk will be lighted with luminaries and hot apple cider will be served free of charge.  This year, parking will be made available at BC High School with free Trolley rides provided to and from the entrance of the Riverwalk.

Saturday, December 3

6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. – Cayce Historical Museum Annual Holiday Open House

The sights, sounds, and tastes of Christmas will abound at the Cayce Museum’s 27th annual Christmas Traditions Holiday Open House. With the help of many volunteers, each room in the Museum is decorated with trees and crafts from the 18th to the 21st century. This open house will also feature live entertainment, docents dressed in period attire, and light refreshments.

Also starting at 6:00 p.m., as darkness falls, there will be living history encampments on the Museum grounds and displays celebrating the long and important role Cayce plays in the history of the South Carolina Midlands. For more information, call the Cayce Historical Museum at 739-5385.

Saturday, December 10

West Metro Holiday Parade of Lights

This Annual event is one of the most anticipated holiday parades in the Midlands! This beloved night time parade begins at the corner of Hwy. 1 & 12th Street in West Columbia and proceeds down 12th Street ending in front of the Cayce Municipal Complex. Crowds have been estimated over 20,000 in past years so come grab a viewing spot early!

“Cayce is always a wonderful place to be but especially during the Holiday Season when so many volunteers help to make the season bright!  We look forward to seeing residents and business owners to add to the cheer, joy and festivities!” stated Mayor Elise Partin.
