Home Works of America celebrates grant from Dominion Foundation

September 15, 2016

Home Works of America announced a $5,000 donation from the Dominion Foundation, purposed toward supporting home repairs and homeowners in Aiken SC (Aiken County).  The mission of Home Works of America is “to show God’s love through service to others, by repairing the homes of elderly and disabled homeowners, assisting youth in their development, and empowering communities to care for their own members.”  Since 1996, Home Works has repaired more than 2,600 homes through 40,000 volunteers.

“Dominion Carolina Gas Transmission and the Dominion Foundation are pleased to partner with Home Works of America to support home repairs and youth development in Aiken, South Carolina,” said Keith Windle, General Manager for Dominion Carolina Gas Transmission. “Dominion recognizes and appreciates Home Works of America’s aid to South Carolinians during the 2015 flood and are proud to help Home Works continue their great work across the state.”

Jim Powell, Executive Director of Home Works of America adds, “We celebrate this bold first-time investment from an established community corporation like Dominion Resources Services.  They have made it possible for Home Works to continue to repair homes across South Carolina, bringing hope and safety to one homeowner at a time through compassionate youth volunteers and adult mentors. We remain hopeful for future expanded partnership.”

During 2016, Home Works of America youth and adult volunteers have brought hope and free home repair to more than 75 homeowners across SC-NC-GA.  Between May and July 2016, Home Works of America repaired seven homes in Aiken County in partnership with the United Way of Aiken County and Aiken Electric Cooperative.
