Homes of Hope receives $100,000 grant from Wells Fargo Housing Foundation

Homes of Hope was recently awarded a $100,000 affordable housing grant by the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation. The grant will be used to support Homes of Hope’s newest affordable housing development 61 Hills, in Anderson, S.C. Construction is currently underway.
The grant is part of a $6 million effort through the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation Priority Markets Program to help stabilize and revitalize neighborhoods impacted by the economy. The Priority Markets Program provides grants to support large-scale neighborhood revitalization projects to further economic recovery in local communities. Since 2009, the program has provided grants totaling more than $36 million for nonprofits in 125 U.S. communities. This grant will support Homes of Hope’s efforts in community redevelopment as the organization ventures to build 100 homes in Anderson by 2019.
“Wells Fargo is pleased to support Homes of Hope in leading efforts to revitalize and position neighborhoods for long-term success,” said Wells Fargo Anderson Market President Scott Webber. “The Priority Markets Program is one of thousands of ways we work together with nonprofits to support local communities.”61 Hills will transform a formerly blighted 16-acre site from a former apartment complex ridden with crime to a 68-home single family neighborhood located only one mile from downtown Anderson. 61 Hills will provide affordable and energy efficient options for a mixture of family incomes, bringing more neighborhood stability and economic impact to the city. When completed, this will bring Homes of Hope’s total number of families housed to over 600 since its inception in 1998.
“61 Hills will be our largest single-site project to-date. We are eagerly looking forward to redeveloping this area and bringing market-quality single family housing to a formerly blighted site. NOTE: In late April Wells Fargo bankers will conduct a financial wellness training class for Homes of Hope clients at 3 Dunean St., Greenville, SC, 29611. The class is designed to help clients properly manage their finances. On April 26th, Wells Fargo representatives will present the $100,000 check to Homes of Hope representatives at5:30pm.
