Honoring Our Heroes: Memorial Day Ceremony and Car Show Set for May 26 in Laurens
May 19, 2025On Monday, May 26, the community is invited to gather at the Laurens County Library’s Veterans Monument for a morning of remembrance, patriotism, and community pride as part of the Laurens County Hall of Heroes Memorial Day Ceremony.
Hosted by the Laurens County Hall of Heroes in partnership with the City of Laurens and the City of Clinton, the Memorial Day event will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 1017 West Main Street, Laurens.
The day begins at 9:30 a.m. with a classic car show, free to the public and open to enthusiasts of all ages. Awards will be presented to the Top 3 entries, making it a fun and festive way to kick off a day of reflection and appreciation.
At 11:30 a.m., attendees will pause for a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the Veterans Monument—an annual tribute to those who gave their lives in service to the nation. The ceremony will include a keynote address by Major General Robin B. Stilwell, Adjutant General for the State of South Carolina, whose leadership and service reflect the values honored on this day.
“We want this event to be a meaningful reminder that freedom isn’t free,” said Morris Madden, Board Chair of the Laurens County Hall of Heroes. “Memorial Day is a time for the community to come together, not just to enjoy the day, but to reflect on the courage and sacrifice of those who have served and died for our country. We invite everyone to join us in showing that respect.”
Admission is free, and the public is encouraged to attend and show support for veterans and their families.
