March 16, 2015
SPARTANBURG, SC – Chapman Cultural Center’s free weekly concert series as part of its Sundays Unplugged program is featuring all young musicians for March in celebration of National Youth Art Month. Sundays Unplugged presents a different singer-songwriter on the Center’s campus every Sunday for the public’s casual enjoyment. This Sunday, March 22, will feature a special concert featuring many students from USC Upstate’s Commercial Music Honors program, beginning at 3 p.m.
Various student ensembles and soloists from USC Upstate’s Department of Fine Arts and Communications Studies will perform jazz, pop, rock, classical, and original music in Chapman Cultural Center’s theater. This is the university’s third annual Commercial Music Honors Concert, and it will feature award-winning songs by finalists from its annual Songwriting Competition, founded by professor and nationally touring jazz musician Dr. Tish Oney. Admission is free.
To complement USC Upstate’s concert, Spartanburg Art Museum and Spartanburg Regional History Museum will also be open with free admission, 1-5 p.m. Artists’ Guild of Spartanburg and the Student Galleries will also be free and open, both featuring works from a wide selection of talented Spartanburg County students in honor of Youth Art Month. Spartanburg Science Center will be open for a small fee.
