Hood Construction reaches 2.5 million hours without a lost time incident

November 22, 2021

Hood Construction proudly announces reaching the rare milestone of 2.5 million hours worked without a lost time incident. This incredible milestone is not commonly reached among firms of Hood’s size, especially among those employing the same number of in-house craft workers.

Hood Construction places a high emphasis on safety, and encourages everyone on each jobsite to Be SAFE; Smart, Alert, Focused, and Educated. At the forefront of each project’s goals is that each team member on-site goes home safely at the end of every work day. “Our team works hard on-site to proactively address any potential safety issues. And I encourage everyone to take action if they ever see anything potentially unsafe happening on-site,” said Hood Construction Director of Safety and Training, Ron Kinlaw. “Safety is everyone’s job, and we are proud of our team for embracing this philosophy and putting safety at the top of their list each and every day.”

As an additional testament to Hood’s commitment to safety, the firm has been awarded a number of honors for its safety programs, including BB&T Insurance Services Lighthouse Beam Safety Award, the Amerisure Insurance Outstanding Safety Performance Award, as well as recognition from the Association of General Contractors. “We had a goal to reach two million hours without a work loss incident, then once that was met, we instituted our ‘Drive for 2.5’ million hours. Our new goal is to ‘Be at Three’ million hours without a lost time incident, and I believe in our team’s ability to reach that milestone,” said Mark Hood, President and CEO.
