August 30, 2022

Hotel Hartness announces the appointment of Carly May as Director of Catering, where she will spearhead the sales and operations for the hotel’s catering events. This includes managing onsite events for Hotel Hartness’ world class amenities to include the fine-dining restaurant Patterson, the intimate Captain’s Bar, the full-service Spa H, and over 16,000 square feet of dedicated space for meetings and events. Uniquely located within the 449-acre award-winning Hartness community, Hotel Hartness will offer a luxurious and idyllic retreat in proximity to downtown Greenville. The boutique hotel will be managed by Hay Creek Hotels and is set to open this winter.

“Carly brings great experience, energy, and a passion for serving others and we gladly welcome her to our growing team,” said Albert Mertz, General Manager at Hotel Hartness. “Under her direction, the hotel’s exceptional event offerings are poised to further set us apart and provide an unmatched bespoke experience.”

As Director of Catering for Hotel Hartness, May will oversee the planning and fruition of weddings, social events, and corporate gatherings that take place in the property’s variety of customizable indoor and outdoor venues, including a grand ballroom that can host up to 300 people. She will additionally work with Executive Chef Tanner Marino to develop specialty menus, assist with the creation and implementation of activities and programs scheduled to take place throughout the property, and manage catering events for Hartness’ nearby Village Kitchen restaurant.

“I am absolutely thrilled to join the talented team at Hotel Hartness. What this hotel will offer is like nothing Greenville has ever seen before and I can’t wait for clients and guests to be blown away by our event spaces, catering, and capabilities,” said May.

May has many years of experience in event management and during her career she has successfully executed a long list of high profile social and corporate events. May comes to Hotel Hartness most recently from The Cliffs at Glassy where she served as events manager. In addition to overseeing all aspects of the event planning process for the club, May also served as food and beverage manager for the community’s two onsite restaurants. Her hospitality experience also includes serving as the director of marketing and events at Thornblade Club where she supervised a team of event coordinators and day-of execution staff for various weddings, corporate gatherings, and largescale events such as the Korn Ferry Tour’s BMW Charity Pro-Am.

May is a graduate of the University of South Carolina.
