HTC employees invest in local high school golf programs

Annual Co-Op Cup Tournament Raises $14,000 to Support Student Athletes Across Horry, Georgetown and Marion Counties.
HTC, the largest telecommunications cooperative in the United States, continues to invest in local students and athletic programs. This year, HTC employees helped raise $14,000 for high school golf programs across Horry, Georgetown and Marion counties. Each school with a golf program received $1,000 to support its student athletes and coaches.
The donation came from funds raised through HTC’s annual Co-Op Cup golf tournament. The employee-led event brings HTC employees and business partners together each year for golf and giving back.
Supporting Students Through Golf
The Co-Op Cup started more than two decades ago. Since then, it has grown into an annual tradition for HTC employees and business partners. While the tournament creates a fun day on the golf course, its purpose extends well beyond the game.
Employees use the event to raise funds for local youth programs and philanthropic efforts. An employee-led Co-Op Cup committee oversees the tournament and annually recommends how funds are distributed to maximize their impact within the communities HTC serves. This year, the committee selected local high school golf programs as the beneficiaries of those efforts.
This year’s donations support 14 high schools throughout HTC’s service area:

• Aynor High School
• Carvers Bay High School
• Carolina Forest High School
• Conway High School
• Georgetown High School
• Green Sea Floyds High School
• Loris High School
• Marion High School
• Myrtle Beach High School
• North Myrtle Beach High School
• Socastee High School
• St. James High School
• Waccamaw High School
Each program can use the funds where they will have the greatest impact. That support can help provide equipment, supplies, tournament opportunities and other resources for student athletes.
More Than a Game
Golf offers students much more than an opportunity to compete. The sport of golf allows them to challenge themselves, set goals and experience the rewards of dedication.
“Golf teaches young people lessons that extend far beyond the course,” said Jimmy Anderson, Committee Chairman of the Co-Op Cup. “It teaches discipline, teamwork, perseverance and accountability. We are proud that our employees come together each year through the Co-Op Cup to help provide local student athletes with resources that support their passion and their potential.”
Moreover, school athletic programs give students opportunities to build confidence and relationships. They also create experiences that can stay with them long after graduation. For HTC, supporting these programs reflects the Cooperative’s broader commitment to local youth. HTC partners with schools and organizations throughout the communities it serves. These partnerships help create opportunities for students to learn, compete and grow.
Giving Back Together
The Co-Op Cup also demonstrates the impact employees can make when they work together. Each year, HTC employees turn their time and talents into support for causes across the community. That spirit of giving remains a key part of HTC’s culture.
The Cooperative continues to support local schools, youth programs, and community organizations throughout Horry, Georgetown and Marion counties.
