Hull of a Tour: “The Freedom Ride” East Coast Motorcycle and Boating Tour Launches Today

SARASOTA, FL & CHARLESTON, SC – The Boaterz ‘n Bikerz Hull of a Tour² launch of “The Freedom Ride” throttled forward today from Sarasota, FL’s Marina Jack location as part of a nine-day, 2000-mile motorcycle and boating adventure.

The tour, which attracted 30 members of the U.S. boating industry and their friends, travels up the east coast to Washington D.C., concluding with the 100,000-bike rally, Rolling Thunder, which honors war veterans Memorial Day weekend.

“This ride is a celebration of freedom and the great outdoors,” said tour organizer Wanda Kenton Smith. “Our tour is unique in that we combine the best of the open roads with the open seas to promote both motorcycling and boating, while stopping at historical sites as part of our focus on freedom.”

Title-sponsored by Freedom Boat Club, with national media sponsor Soundings Trade Only, platinum sponsor Hurricane Boats and producer Kenton Smith Marketing, “The Freedom Ride” runs May 15 – 24 with stops in St. Augustine, FL; Savannah, GACharleston, SC; Morehead City, NC; Annapolis, MD; York and Gettysburg, PA; Williamsburg,Charlottesville and Alexandria, VA.

The tour visits Freedom Boat Club locations for boating activities, including waterfront festivities in Sarasota, Savannah and Myrtle Beach. St. Augustine’s club is sponsoring a boat ride and brunch at the historic Flagler College, while the Annapolis, MD club is providing boats for a Severn River cruise featuring a performance by the Blue Angels.

Historic sites include the naval ships at Patriot’s Point in Charleston; the Wright Brothers museum in the Outer Banks; Williamsburg, VA; the Harley-Davidson museum in York, PA;Gettysburg ; and Monticello in Charlottesville, VA. The finale culminates in the nation’s capital for Rolling Thunder featuring an escorted tour Sunday, May 24 from the Pentagon to the Viet Nam Memorial Wall.

The Freedom Ride is the second event hosted by the group. The first traveled 3000 miles from Florida to California in 2012.
