Hunter Howard, Jr. Creates Greenville Technical College Scholarship to Honor his Father

GREENVILLE, SC – A pledge of $25,000 has been received by the Greenville Tech Foundation. The gift, from S. Hunter Howard, Jr., will provide tuition assistance to students pursuing skills in advanced manufacturing.

Howard has been active in the community and state in several types of public service including as a state representative, president of the SC Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Greenville Tech Foundation.

In presenting the gift he said, “I am pleased to be able to recognize my father, S. Hunter Howard, Sr. by establishing this scholarship fund in his name. In working with the folks at Greenville Tech I have learned that so many of them are like my father who was continually supportive and encouraging me in the pursuit of education as the key to building a great life.”

“We are grateful to Hunter Howard for building on his father’s legacy by seeing that students have the financial assistance they need to reach their goals,” said Dr. Keith Miller, president of Greenville Technical College. “This scholarship fund is a great tribute to a man who knows the importance of education and encourages others to pursue it.”
