if ART Gallery presents MICHAEL CASSIDY: As They Are DIANE KILGORE CONDON: Film Of The Mind 

Two Simultaneous Solo Exhibitions – December 3 – 24, 2016

On Saturday, December 3, if ART Gallery will open two solo exhibitions with a reception from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. The exhibitions are Michael Cassidy: As The Are and Diane Kilgore Condon: Film Of The Mind. Please note that the reception is not on the usual Friday night but on Saturday afternoon, December 3. Prior to the opening on Saturday, Kilgore Condon will conduct a gallery talk at 1:00 p.m. Cassidy’s gallery talk is one week later, on Saturday, December 10, 2:00 p.m.

Cassidy, of West Columbia, S.C., will present a new body of small paintings of plants, shells, deer antlers and pieces of brick. Kilgore Condon, of Greenville, S.C., will present a new body of large and small works featuring animals and vegetation.

Michael Cassidy (b. 1977, Flint, Mich.) has lived in the Columbia area for some 15 years. He joined if ART Gallery in 2015. Cassidy was selected for the 701 CCA South Carolina Biennial 2015 at the city’s 701 Center for Contemporary Art. He has had solo exhibitions in 2009 and 2014 in the FAB Gallery at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, S.C., as well as a 2013 solo show at City Art Gallery in Columbia. Among group exhibitions in which he was included are those at S.C. State University’s I.P. Stanback Museum and Planetarium and the Anderson Art Center in Anderson, S.C. From 2011 – 2015, Cassidy worked as curator, gallery director and instructor at S.C. State. Since 2015, he works as an exhibits master craftsman at the South Carolina State Museum in Columbia. Cassidy received an MFA from the University of South Carolina in 2014 and holds a BFA from Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Kilgore Condon (b. 1964), who joined if ART in 2012, is the owner of Greenville’s ArtBomb Studios. ArtBomb, established in 2001, launched what is now Greenville’s most important arts district, the Pendleton Street Art District. The Wassau, Wis., native was raised in the East and Midwest and in 1983 moved from Florida to Greenville to attend Bob Jones University. There she studied with Carl Blair and in 1988 received a BA in Fine Arts. Kilgore Condon is among the South Carolina Upstate’s most prolific and respected painters.
