Improvements planned for North Springs Road and Risdon Way intersection

August 8, 2016

Work to begin August 1, 2016

Improvements for local intersections have begun through the Richland County Transportation Penny Program.  Richland County has awarded a contract for six intersection improvements to C.R. Jackson, Inc., a locally-owned construction contractor in Columbia.  Richland County is sensitive to the impact that these improvement projects may have on residents and business owners in the area; however, the County’s goal is to improve safety and traffic flow at the six existing intersections.
 .
Construction at the intersection of North Springs Road and Risdon Way is scheduled to begin on August 1, 2016 and be substantially complete by October 19, 2016.  Project enhancements for this include a new left turn lane on North Springs Road and a new traffic signal.
 .
All motorists traveling through the project area are asked to be aware of the equipment and crews and to be prepared for delays during construction. Alternative routes are recommended if possible.
The public is also asked to notice traffic control signs, reductions in speed limit and message board information and to note that all road work is dependent on the weather.
 .
The contractor, C.R. Jackson, Inc. is responsible for the maintenance of the intersection for the duration of the project.  Please contact Elizabeth Jackson at (803) 750-6070 or Email: [email protected] for any questions or further construction related information.  Project updates are provided monthly on the Richland Penny website at: http://www.richlandpenny.com/budget-info/reports/
