Infrastructure upgrades continue at Southside Park with new septic system installation

September 28, 2026

Critical utility work is moving forward behind the scenes at Southside Park as local contractors work to support ongoing improvements at the popular 65-acre recreation complex.

Roper Brothers, Inc. announced this week that crews are currently installing a new commercial septic system at the facility, working as a trade partner alongside general contractor Reeves Young. The underground work is taking place on the park grounds near the Discovery Island Waterpark complex off Baldwin Road.

“Another one going in the ground,” Roper Brothers shared in an update on the progress. “As a Tier 3 Septic System Installer, Roper Brothers has the experience, equipment, and capabilities to handle advanced septic installations along with complete site utility work. We appreciate Reeves Young trusting Roper Brothers to be a part of this project.”

Accompanied by photos of heavy excavating machinery trenching along the park’s tree line, the installation represents a foundational step in ensuring the park’s public amenities, restrooms, and seasonal water attractions operate smoothly.

Southside Park has been the center of major activity over the past year, drawing steady crowds following substantial park upgrades, expanded recreation facilities, and bustling summer attendance at Discovery Island. While new surface amenities often capture the public eye, sub-surface infrastructure projects like modern wastewater management are vital to keeping pace with the county facility’s growing community usage.

Work on the utility lines is progressing on schedule as county park officials continue to invest in long-term facility enhancements across the Golden Strip.
