Two New Tenants to Occupy 31,000 Square Feet of Innovista’s Private Partner Building
COLUMBIA, SC – January 21, 2009 – Representatives from The University of South Carolina, Innovista Holdings, KIRCO and Colliers Keenan today welcomed TM Floyd & Company and VC3 as the newest tenants to Innovista’s Horizon II building. The two companies will occupy 31,000 square feet of Horizon II and play an integral role as partners in the Consortium for Enterprise Systems Management at Innovista.
We’re pleased to welcome two prestigious IT companies as the newest tenants to Horizon II, said Dr. Harris Pastides, president of The University of South Carolina. Their commitment to Innovista and the Consortium will help ensure continued economic growth and vitality of the IT industry in the heart of South Carolina. Together, TM Floyd & Company, VC3 and the members of the Consortium will take a synergistic approach to identifying, training and growing new talent while at the same time fostering an environment that helps retain that same talent here in South Carolina.
TM Floyd & Company, an information technology consulting group dedicated to providing innovative and cost-effective IT solutions for the healthcare and property & casualty insurance industries, will occupy 15,000 square feet of the Horizon II building.
VC3, an information technology services organization that delivers customer-oriented solutions to both the commercial and public sectors, will occupy 16,000 square feet of Horizon II.
We chose to locate our company to Horizon II because of the opportunity to play an integral part of the Consortium and the chance to be a part of the ever-growing innovation district in the heart of downtown Columbia, said Terry Floyd, managing partner and founder of TM Floyd & Company. We’re confident that this move will not only allow us to identify and train new talent so that we may continue to grow our company, but also help us create a center for IT development and jobs in the Midlands.
Housed on 14,120 square feet of two floors of the Horizon II building, the Consortium, a unique collaboration of representatives from Blue Cross Blue Shield and IBM and others, will build information technology (IT) opportunities of the future and help drive economic development in the state and nation while bringing together representatives from the business, academia and economic development communities.
Together, Consortium partners will address growing IT hiring challenges, such as attracting students to consider technology careers in insurance, banking, retail, airlines, petroleum and other industries dependent on high volume transaction processing. It also will dedicate efforts to directing students to companies that are hiring IT professionals.
Locating our headquarters to the Horizon II building not only allows us to take a hands-on approach in our day-to-day role within the Consortium, but also provides us with opportunities for continued company-wide growth through ever-expanding access to IT resources and expertise at the University of South Carolina and beyond, said Founder, Chairman and CEO of VC3 David Dunn.

Construction has begun on Horizon II, a 110,000-square-foot, five-story building that will serve as office and laboratory space for private companies and other entities that are collaborating with University of South Carolina researchers, and is expected to be completed in 2009.
Two other structures will be completed in 2009, including the Horizon I, a five-story academic and research building under construction at Blossom and Main streets and Discovery I, a five-story academic research building under construction on Greene Street across from the Colonial Life Arena. Three structures at Innovista have been completed and are operational. These include the public health research building and two parking decks.
