International Ballet announces Swan Lake debut in Greenville

April 23, 2024

Artistic Director Vlada Kysselova is gearing up for a full length production of Swan Lake May 25-26, 2024 at Peace Concert Hall. Tchaikovsky’s iconic score will be performed live by the Greenville Symphony Orchestra led by Maestro Edvard Tchivzhel. This is the first time Swan Lake has been performed with a live symphony orchestra in Greenville. Deeply moving and visually stunning, Swan Lake is the quintessential classical ballet, steeped in themes of love and deception.

Professional guest artists from San Francisco Ballet lead the cast with Katherine Barkman in the role of Odette/Odile, Esteban Hernádez in the role of Prince Seigfried, and Nathaniel Remez as the villainous Rothbart. Twelve additional professional guest artists from San Antonio Ballet, Ballet Idaho, Ballet Theatre of Maryland, Chattanooga Ballet, and Ballet Spartanburg join 23 pre-professional dancers from International Ballet Academy in the production.

IB President Sarah Shoemaker states “Producing a four act classical ballet is a major artistic undertaking, but we felt like the time was right. Greenvillians truly do support the arts and the city is growing. The fact that we sold out all three performances of The Nutcracker this season makes us optimistic that there is an audience for Swan Lake. Katherine Barkman and Esteban Hernandez are world-class performers so it’s exciting to see talent of this caliber share the stage with our local talent. It’s also a thrill for IB to bring IB alumni Lydia Acker, Logan Acker, Sarah Jung, and Lydia Sanders back to perform with us as well.”

Swan Lake is one of the most famous ballets in the world and IB is honored to bring this production, typically found only on the largest of stages, to the Upstate. Swan Lake is sponsored by Charles Wofford & Nancy Thomas, Beth Lee and Martha & Tracy Pellett. .

Swan Lake tickets start at $25 and may be purchased online at peacecenter.org or by visiting or calling the Peace Center Box Office at 864.467.3000, Monday – Friday 9:30am – 5:30pm.
